Boston Scott, a 5-foot-6 running back who played college football at Louisiana Tech University, announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, via a statement on his Instagram account.[1][2]
The Philadelphia Eagles selected Scott in the sixth round, 204th overall, of the 2018 NFL Draft. Over six seasons with the Eagles from 2018 to 2023, he appeared in 71 regular-season games with 11 starts, rushing for 1,281 yards and 12 touchdowns while adding 86 receptions for 556 yards and three scores. He also returned kickoffs and punts early in his career.[2][3]
Scott earned the nickname "Giants Killer" for his performances against NFC East rival New York Giants, including three rushing touchdowns in the 2018 wild-card playoff game and additional scores in later matchups.[2][4]
In Super Bowl LVII on February 12, 2023, Scott had three carries for four yards as the Eagles lost 38-35 to the Kansas City Chiefs at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.[2][3]
Scott's last regular-season game came on December 25, 2023, against the Giants at Lincoln Financial Field. He signed with the Los Angeles Rams on May 10, 2024, but was released on August 26 without appearing in a game. He joined the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad on September 17, 2024, and was released on October 8.[2][3]
In his retirement statement, Scott reflected on his journey from a college walk-on who nearly left the sport to reaching the NFL's highest level. "I'm thankful for the coaches, teammates, and staff throughout my career that believed in me even when it wasn't popular," he wrote.[1]
Scott has worked as a content creator with the esports organization Dignitas since October 2023.[5]
