Broncos target Rodgers as Steelers QB ponders return
The Denver Broncos have shown interest in signing four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers, according to a report. The 42-year-old quarterback signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers last offseason and has not ruled out a return in 2026. Pittsburgh awaits his decision as the NFL's new league year began last week and the draft approaches.
Rodgers started 16 games for the Steelers last season, throwing 24 touchdowns and helping the team end a five-year AFC North division title drought. Pittsburgh lost to the Houston Texans in the wild-card playoff round. Will Howard and Mason Rudolph remain in the Steelers' quarterback room for 2026.
Denver head coach Sean Payton, who won a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints, seeks to become the first coach to win with two franchises. Bo Nix led the Broncos to the AFC Championship game last season but suffered an ankle injury during their divisional playoff victory over the Buffalo Bills. Jarrett Stidham started the title game loss to the New England Patriots, and Nix rehabs with no firm recovery timetable.
A Rodgers addition would provide Denver insurance while Nix recovers, potentially by training camp. Rodgers has made no official visit to the Broncos this offseason.
